Dear Sir Edward Grey: -
My London Firm has had an enquiry from a
Continental House as to whether they will take a shipment
of 70,000 rifles and 7,000,000 cartridges from a Contin-
ental port to Hong Kong via Cape of Good Hope, so avoid-
ing any interference from Italian or Turkish authorities
or ships of war if proceeding viê Mediterranean and Suez
Canal.
My object in addressing you is to ascertain if
an English shipowner is at liberty to convey, and land
at Hong Kong, mmitions of war in view of the civil war
in China.
