I have the honour to acknowle

mejce the receipt of your letter of the 28th. My, No. 15604/2012, on the subject of raising the amount required to purchase e

site for the terminal station of the Canton-Kowloon

-ilway and to complete the undertaking.

If the Government of Hong Kong is likely to

be in a position to meet the liability from current

revenue in the course of the next or ◊ years, we agree

that it would be advisable not to make a further issue

of inscribed stock, which would otherwise have been the

best course,

but to borrow the necessary amount for a

shorter period.

We have been authorized by your letter of the

la.

14th. July 1910, No. 19892/1910, to issue bonds under

Ordinance No. 12 of 1905 up to the maximum amount of

£900,000, but we have not yet had occnsion to act upon

that authority, and we have at present funds in our

hands belonging to other Colonies for which we have to

find employment. We have already advanced £350,000
