In the definition of "beysetting" assistance was obtained from
section " of the Prevention of Crime (Ireland) Aet 1882 and see-
tion 2 of the Criminal Law and Presedure (Ireland) Ast 1887
al though it will be sbserved that the definition employed in
this Ordinance is, swing to the necessity of definition to meet
that local sircumstances and from the fast, the definition is of a

broad term net üsed in the Asts quotedy made as brought as reasonably
possible. Similarly the definition of "intimidation" is, and in
this sase nero sasily, drawn from section 7 of the Preventien
of Crime (Ireland) Aet 1882 and section 19 of the Criminal Law
and Procedure (Ireland) Aet 1887 in both of which sections the
expression "intimidation" is defined.
"Person” is very broadly defined.
"Society" is assisted in its definition by sestion 7 of the Cri-
minal Law and Prosedure (Ireland) Aet 1887.
6. Seation 3 is intended to strike at these persons who belong to
the sesieties and assecintiohs by which the beysetts are esm-
menaed, controlled and maintained. The difficulty in obtaining
reliable information relative to what actually takes place be- hind the deers of the meeting places of those seeieties or guildg
is very great and shiefly owing to the scaret manner in which
the operations of these bodies are carried on.
7. Section 4 is dirested against the individual who uses violence, threats er intimidation to promote this class of boycott and
here i sestion 7 of the Prevention of Crime (Ireland) Aet 1862
and soetion 2 of the Criminal Law and Prosedure (Ireland) Ast 1887 aided the draft; as was also the ease with regard to that part of section 3 in which the offence ereated is indicated.
8. Bestien 5 areates the effense of boycotting as defined in see-
that tion 2 of the Ordinance. It will be seen whilst sections 3 & 4 contain as an element of an offense thereunder vielenec, threat er intimidation, section 5 does not impert this faster.
9. Section 6 draws in to the class of principal offenders these
