"An Ordinance (No.41 of 1912) to prevent the undue and improper
interference with or hampering of lawful business and commercial
undertakings. *
1. This Ordinance introduces legislation of somewhat unusual.
character.
It is perhaps unnecessary to go into details in this report of
the circumstances which led up to the passage of this OrdinanNCO
through the Legislative Council and it is probably sufficient
to state here that, as the result of a parfectly legitimate re-
fusal on the part of three large passenger canvoying companies
to accept in payment of fare Chinese seins, an organized and
persistent beyeatt of one of these companies has been engineeroë
and is still maintained by the people of Chinese race who are
in the Colony.
