that ordinarily charged for waste land. The land in question is
upland, unsuitable for cultivation, and, though it contains sites
which might at some future date have become available for build-
-ing purposes, there are in the immediate neighbourhood many areas of Crown Land equally suitable for such purposes. It is hoped that the links will prove an inducement to Europeans to erect houses
in the vicinity, and a bungalow has in fact recently been built
in close proximity to the course. The railway will of course be
benefitted.

The Club have now made application for the
lease of an adjoining area for the purpose of laying out a ladies course of nine holes. The land required comprises 26.6 acres, of a value of 8108.90 per acre.

I have to ask your covering approval of the
lease already granted and your sanction to the grant upon similar
conditions of a lease of the land now asked for. As the permanent improvements on the new area will be small, only a small pecuniary liability will be incurred in respect of them.
