I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your Despatch No. 319 of the 24th. ultimo with which you trans- -mit correspondence regarding the construction of the Mongkoktsui Breakwater.

The Director of Public Works informs me,
reference to Messrs. Coode Matthews Fitzmaurice and Wilson's
letter of the 17th. October, that the portion of the breakwater which has already been constructed, indicated by grey colour on the diagram which accompanied my Despatch No. 321 of the 6th.bm- September last, has been carried out in strict compliance with the plan prepared by that firm in 1908.
