of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral
of the same.
The Humble Petition of Principal Warders
and Warders of Victoria Gaol, Hongkong.
Respectfully sheweth as follows:-
1. Your Petitioners, the Principal Warders, are
Principal Warders of the Victoria Gaol at Victoria in the Colony
of Hongkong, and Your Petitioners, the Warders, are Warders of
the said Victoria Gaol.
2. In or about the month of December 1910 the
premises of the Victoria Gaol were considerably enlarged and
the duties and responsibilities of Your Petitioners have since
proportionately increased.
3. The hours of duty appertaining to the employment
of Your Petitioners, the Principal Warders, are nightly from
5.45 p.m. till 6 a.m. without interruption and daily on alter-
nate days from 5.30 a.m. till 6 p.m. and from 6.15 a.m. till 5
p.m. with intervals in the first case of 3 hours and in the
second case of 24 hours.
4. The hours of duty appertaining to the employment
Your Petitioners, the Warders, are on alternate days from 5.30 t
a.m. till 6 p.m. and from 6.15 a.m. till 5 p.m. with intervals
in the first case of 34 hours and in the second case of 24
hours.
5. The hours of leisure and public holidays per-
mitted to Your Peyitioners are considerably less than those
generally conceded to other members of the Hongkong Civil Ser-
vice of which the following are a few instances, that is to say
the Hongkong Civil Servants other than Your Petitioners enjoy
