The case of Mrs. Main has been dealt with in
my Despatch No. 293 of 20th. August, 1912.

Third Interpreter. Supreme Court.
I attach an application from lir. A. J. Mackie
for increase of salary. The salary compares unfavourably with that
of the Chinese Higher Grade Interpreter whose maximum is $2,700
per annum which at 2/- to the dollar is equivalent to £270 a
year. I consider that the scale of salary should be altered to
£240 £270 by £10 anually and that Mr. Mackie might be allowed
to draw £250 as from lat. January, 1913.
