I have the honour to forward for the information

of H. E. the Governor the following report together with the three

attached Returns (a), (b) and (c) on the matter of the increase in

house rentals as between three different dates in each of the

years 1902 and 1912. The House Valuation returns cover the follow-

-ing periods:-

The particular European houses dealt with are the

same under each district mentioned in the three above-mentioned

returns.

The districts are as follows:-

(1). Peak and Upper Levels (including lagazine Gap).

(2). Victoria,

Eastern.

(4). Kowloon.

No comprises 71 European houses, taken, like all the

others on the lists, promiscuously from the valuation books.

Forty-two (42) of the houses are at the Peak proper, ten (10) in

Queen's Gardens, four (4) on Bowen Road and fifteen (15) at Magazine Gap. No. 2 comprises 140 houses as follows:- Babington

Path (7), Oakland Path (1), Park Road (3), Park View (6), Robin-

-son Road (7), Bonham Road (3), Arbuthnot Road (11), Macdonnell

Road (18), Seymour Terrace (14), Belilios Terrace (27), Caine

Road (28), Kermedy Road (18), and the Albany (4). No. 3 com-

-prises 73 houses as follows:- Wanchai Road (11), Wongneichong Road (14), Bowrington Canal Road, East (3), Caroline Road (1),

Morrison
