miner with a capital of $10,000 will be allowed to open 1 square Li, and an additional square Li for every additional investment of $10,000, up to 30 square Li, subject to extension, when the enter- -prise proves successful.
Remlation 51. When any land adjoins any mines which are being worked, whoever of the landlords of the adjoining mines is the
first to send in his application shall be entitled to get hold of
the land.
Chapter 10.
Regulation 52. For any mine containing any ore whatever, the yearly
rent is $5 for every square li, and where the mine covers less than
one square li, 10 cents for every 10 Mau, payable half-yearly in
advance i.e. in January and July respectively.
Regulation 53. (a). For any land where only prospecting for mine is made but no licence for mining has been taken out, no yearly rent
is required.
(b). When no ore has been excavated and removed away for sale during the first year after the issue of the required licence, the rent for that year may be remitted on application.
(c). For any land which is only used for the IŠTE construction of tunnels for leading away any water for ventilation etc., no yearly rent is required.
Regulation 54. On any ore excavated and removed away from any mine, royalties must be paid as follows:-

Regulation 55. All royalties for any ore excavated and removed out of any mine in one month shall be duly paid in the following month, and none shall remain unpaid for over 3 months.

A scale of rates of royalties to be levied on ore excavated and removed out of any mine shall be determined by the Commissioner of Industry quarterly and notified to the various mine-omers in March, June and December of every year.
