I have the honour to inform you that since the return from leave of Mr. A. E. Wright, Executive Engineer, on 16th. August, 1911, when he took over the duties of Executive Engineer in charge of Buildings Ordinance Work, Er. Perkins who up till then had been in charge being transferred to fill the vacancy in the liaintenance Branch caused by Mr. Tooker's promotion to the post of 2nd. Assistant Director of Public Works, Mr. Wright and his Assistant lar. J. W. White have been performing extra work on account of the vacancy caused by Mr. Perkins transfer.

It was the intention at one time to recommend
for promotion to the vacancy Mr. Clark, an Overseer engaged on Buildings Ordinance Work, but on further consideration it was deemed inadvisable to do so and the Crown Agents were accordingly asked to engage a suitable candidate in England. The new officer is expected to arrive about the middle of November.

In the meantime Mr. Wright and his Assistant
nave been called upon to perform the duties of 3 officers necessitating a large amount of overtime work and I therefore recommend that their cases should be regarded as special and that they be granted extra remuneration at the following rates for the period from 16th. August, 1911, until the date of the arrival of the newly appointed officer:-
