I must apologize for having delayed so long
in writing to thank you for the copies of the Calendars of the new Universities of Belfast and of Wales which reached me in June last but must plead that we have all been so extremely busy organizing our new University, and I am now able to send you copies of our Regulations for the Degrees in the Faculty of Medicine.
You are aware that the Medical Faculty of the University has absorbed our College of Medicine which has been in existence for some 25 years and which has issued a Licence that
has only been registrable in this Colony. The Entrance Examination
to the College was accepted some years ago by the General Medical Council and the standard of the University matriculation naturally is if anything set at a somewhat higher level.
I am authorised by the Board of Faculty to
enquire whether the General Medical Council will accept our
degrees in liedicines for registration and if not what further
conditions they desire to impose in order that our degrees may be
so recognized.
We have not thought it necessary to put in the
Regulations that graduates in Medicine must be not less than 21
years of age because it is laid down in the Ordinance (Statute 21)
that the minimum age of entrance to the University is 16 and the
curriculum extends over 5 years.
Our Vice Chancellor is Sir Chas Eliot,K.C.M.G.,
M.A., L.L.D., etc., recently Vice Chancellor of the University of
Sheffield, and the Regulations bear his signature.
I enclose also copies of the Regulations
governing the Entrance Examination to the University and copies of
