"had become Crown Land. As it is now know that these lots are
*still private property, the length of Block L has been cut down "to 120 feet to prevent its encroaching on any of them; a vide "margin being allowed because the plan is of doubtful accuracy. "The Laximum a dition (1,725 square feet) which can be made to "Block L is a very small percentage of the total area of land
"dealt with in this scheme".

In view of the considerable amount of capital i expended by Mr. Li Ping in developing this very insanitary
neighbourhood both the Director of Public Works and the Land
Officer recommend that he should be given an opportunity of purchasing the area, when it becomes available by resumption in connection with the laying out of the locality, at a valuation to
be made by the Director of Public Works and without auction. I
concur in their recommendation mich I have accordingly to submit
for your favourable consideration.
5.
In connection with the part which Government
is taking in the improvement of the locality of Shanshuipo, I
would refer you to the Director of Public Works' letter of 14th.
August, 1911, which formed an enclosure to Sir F. Lugard's
Despatch No. 390 of 16th. November, 1911, and is referred to in
paragraph 10 under the subhead Miscellaneous.
