Referring to your Despatch No. 199 of the 29th.
June, I have the monour to report that I have granted to Dr. J. E.
Atkinson, Principal Civil Hedical Officer, a pension at the rate
of $4,030 per annum, at 3 s 8 d. the dollar equals £738 . 16. 8,
and that the Crom Agents for the Colonies have been instructed to issue payments to him as they become due.

I take this opportunity of transmitting the
enclosed copy of a letter which I caused to be addressed to Dr.
Atkinson on his retirement.
