I have the honour to address you in the follow-
The owner of Shauki wan Inland Lot 37, coloured
green on the enclosed plan, recently proposed to build on this lot,
whereas the revised scheme for laying out the locality, which is
also shown on the plan, involves the resumption of this area.
3.
Negotiations were accordingly entered into with the owner's architect with a view to ascertaining whether the owner would be prepared to exchange the lot coloured green for the lot coloured red. To this exchange he has now agreed and I have there- -fore to recommend it for your approval on the following terms:-
(a). The existing lease of Shaukiwan Inland Lot 37 to be
surrendered to Government within one month of

the date of a letter notifying the lessee that the new lot is at his disposal.
(b). The lessee to be granted the lot shown coloured red
on plan herewith and containing an area of 11,268 square feet.
(c). Term of lease, the residue of a term of 999 years
commencing on 3rd. January, 1860.
(d). Premium at the rate of 25 cents per square foot to
be paid for 2,790 square feet being the excess
