Hon. Colonial Secretary,
The attached letter from Inspector icEwen was
considered at a meeting of the Board held on Dec. 12th. and I am directed to forward it for consideration.
I may add that a similar application will be found in C.5.0. No. 1305 of 1900 in which file Inspector McMichael petitioned to be allowed to count his previous service in the Cacl Department in Ireland and Hongkong. In reply the. of S. regretted that he could not meet Inspector Lekichael's wishes in the matter (0.0.D. No. 251 of 1900).
The difference between the two cases is that
the whole of Inspector LcEwen's service has been in Hongkong and has been unbroken so far as service under the Crown is concerned, while part of Inspector Eckichael's service was in Ireland and a break of his service under the Crown was caused by his employment
by the Taikoo Sugar Work.
