DECE 17 JUN 12

ATTORNEY GENERAL'S CHAMBERS,

Hongkong... 21st, May,

1912.

Report on Ordinance No.. 2.2. of 1912.

I have examined the accompanying Ordinance entitled

"An Ordinance-te amend the Tramway Ordinance 1901 (Ordinance N..10 er 1902), .

and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the Governor's Instructions,

This Ordinance amplifies the powers vested in the Hong Kong Tramway Company under the Tramway Ordinanes 1902 by giving them the right of extending their tramways subject to the approval of the Gover nor-in-Council and, as the company has a monopoly, subject also to the approval of the Legislative Council.

Timely and adequate notification by public advertisement er ⚫therwise of the intention of the company to apply to the Governor-in- Council for such approval has first te be made. The object of the Ordi- nance is to render the passing of a fresh amending Ordinance unnecessat ywhere the system is extended.

Attorney General.
