GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG, 23rd. April, 1912.

With reference to paragraph 4 of Sir F. D.

Lugard's Confidential Despatch of the 5th. January, I have the

honour to inform you that, as the Captain Superintendent of Police

no longer required his services, kr. R. 0. Hutchison ceased to dis-

-charge the duties of extra Assistant Superintendent of Police on

the 4th. April.

2.

Mr. F. J. Badeley has expressed his gratitude

for the valuable services rendered by Mr. Hutchison during the

period of nearly four months when he was performing Police duties,

and I recommend that he should be granted a bonus of $500. Half the

initial pay of the post of Police Probationer for the period in question would have been 8484.

3.

A considerable amount of work, especially in

connection with out-door inspection, has devolved upon Commander C.

W. Beckwith, who has been assisting in the discharge of the duties of Superintendent of Imports and Exports, and I recommend that he should be granted an allowance of $100 a month for the period Decem-

-ber 14th. to April 4th.

4.

If these recommendations are approved by you I will bring them before the Legislative Council in a Financial
