Referring to your Despatch No. 49 of 22nd. February, I have the honour to inform you that this Government has learnt with great regret of the untimely death of the late Mr. E. S. Lindsey and desires to place on record its appreciation of his most valuable services in connection with the opening to traffic of the British Section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway and with the negotiations for a Joint Working Agreement.

I shall be glad if you will convey to Mrs. Lindsey an expression of the sincere sympathy which this Government feels for her in her sad bereavement.

In reply to your Despatch No. 51 of the 23rd. February, I transmit a copy of a minute dated the 19th. Karch by Mr. H. P. Winslow and I shall not fail to communicate to you any further information which may be elicited with regard to the late Mr. Lindsey's estate in Hongkong.
