I have the honour to inform you that on
Friday March 8th., I was invited to tea by the Directors of the Tung Wa Hospital (past and present).
At this function Mr. Chan Kai ing on behalf
of the Directors, after expressing regret at my departure from this Colony, took this opportunity to present me with a silver tea service of three pieces. I accepted the gift at the time and now write to inform you of the fact and ask permission to accept the presentation.
I beg to state that till the evening previous
to the presentation, when I saw a short notice in one of the
papers, I was under the impression that the tea to which I had beer
invited was only to serve as an opportunity of saying farewell to
the Directors.
