(now the Hon. Mr E.A.Hewett C.M.G.) and received the thanks

of the Chamber for my services.

1903 - 1906. Served on the Sanitary Board as an elected Member

In December 1905 upon the retirement of Sir Paul Chater C.M.G.

the Senior Un-official Member, from the representation of the

Justices of the Peace on the Legislative Council, I was elected

by the Justices as their representative on the Council for

the ensuing 6 years, my opponents being Mr H.W.Slade, the then

Chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank and Mr E.A.Hewett.

In January 1912 I was re-elected, unopposed, as the repre sen-

tative of the Justices on the Council for a further term of

6 years.

During my official tenure of a seat on the Council

I have served on the Law Committee as well as on Special Committees

and without going further back than 1911 perhaps I may be per-

mitted to state that I sat on Committees which dealt with the

following Ordinances passed in that year:-

(4) The Chinese Partnership Ordinance.

(2)

The Companies Ordinance.

(3) The Interpretation Ordinance.

(4) The Law Amendment Ordinance.

(5)

The Penalties Amendment Ordinance.

Lately I have also sat on Committees relating to

the Public House Trust Scheme and to the price to be paid by

the Government for the acquisition of the site of a terminal

Railway Station at Kowloon.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your obedient Servant,

(ad) H.E.POLLOCK.
