With reference to my Despatch No. 77 of the

6th. March, 1912, and to previous correspondence on the subject of the terms of appointment of the Nursing Staff, I have the honour to state that in two cases (those of Sister Allan and Sister Watson) gratuities in lieu of leave were granted at the expiration of their appointment. Sister Etherington, who will vacate her appointment on the 20th. March, has draw attention to these pre- -cedents and asked for a similar gratuity. z of the 9th. January, 1912, in which you point out that the foot- -note to General Order 56-A states that no compensation is to be given if leave is mt taken, and you request that this rule may be followed strictly in future.
