In continuation of my despatch (Confidential)

of December 19th, 1911 covering an application from Kr Justice Gompertz for the post of Attorney General in this

Colony I have the honour to forward a Minute in this connection written by Sir H. May, late Colonial Secretary,

in reply to a question from myself.

2.

With regard to the latter part of this

Minute, from all I have heard of Mr E.H. Sharpe I believe

that this Colony would be fortunate if he were selected

as Attorney General. Mr Sharpe called on me when I was

in London in 1910 and I am under the impression that he

would be willing to accept the appointment. The address

he gave me was I think 68 Pall Mall S.W.

3.

I attach also a letter from ir 0.G.Alabaster

who has acted as Attorney General for the last nine months

during the absence on leave of Mr Rees-Davies together

with a letter which I caused to be written to him when

he ceased to act on the retum of the Attorney General.

Er Alabaster's tenure of the appointment has coincided

*

with a priod of extreme pressure in legislation, owing

in part to the many special Bills passed in connection
