Sir,

I have the honour to request permission, in accordance with the regulations, to accept remunerative employment in this country while on leave from the Colony of Hongkong.

2. I have not yet been offered any such employment, so I am unable to specify its nature.

3. My reasons for making this request are, that idleness is irksome to me, and that I find my half salary insufficient for my needs, more especially in view of the recent reductions made therefrom.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servant,

Bund Suger

Commander R.N.

HARBOUR MASTER &c, Hongkong.

UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE

COLONIAL OFFICE.
