Sir

I have the honour to request permission, in accordance

the regulations, to accept remunerative employment in this country w

on leave from the Colony of Hongkong.

2. I have not yet been offered any such employment, so I ar

unable to specify its nature.

3. My reasons for making this request are, that idleness is

irksome to me, and that I find my half salary insufficient for my needs,

more especially in view of the recent reductions made therefrom.
