I am directed to inform you that the Secretary
of State for the Colonies has decided that you cannot be exonerated from responsibility in connection with the recent defalcations in the Barbour Master's Department and that you should be called upon to pay $750 of the amount lost.
2. I am accordingly to request you to remit this amount or its equivalent in sterling to the Crown Agents for the Colonies for credit of this Government's account.
