Excluding Mr. Hallifax, I am at present the senior cadet in a 3rd class billet. In course of time it seems possible that I might be promoted either to the Sanitary Board or to the Education Department.
I do not apply for or expect any immediate increase in salary. I beg that I may be transferred to a District where I might become familiar with the work in some service that I find congenial. There is unfortunately only one District in Hong Kong - I can therefore never look forward to being promoted to a billet where the work was more familiar & less uncongenial than that in dealing ...
