Sir,
The Postmaster General understands that it has hitherto been the practice at the British Fostal. Asenetso in China to accept subsidiary silver coins of long kong up to the amount of 3 at the full face value, any loss being made good by the Hong Kong Government under a head or exponiture separate from the estimates for the Post Office.
It is considered that any alteration of this practice at the Agencies would probably cause serious friction; and I am to enquire whether the Secretary Stato for the Colonies will comunicate with the Government of Hong Kong with a view to the acceptance by that Government of such subsidiary coins at their face value when remitted as part of the receipts from the Agencics.
