(I) Established servants (the Postmaster of Shanghai and

his staff of 12 Clerks, a comprador and three Shroffs). Information is desired as to the full names, nationality, age (with actual date of birth, length of

service (any service in an unestablished capacity being

shown separately), conditions of emplorment, and character

and capacity. The information as to conditions of

employment should show:-

(1) Hours of duty,

(2) Nature of work,

(3) Privileges as regards annual leave;

sick leave; medical attendance; payment for extra duty; allowances (e.g. super- vising allowances, and allowances for travelling); uniform, if any (the value being stated),

(4) Recognised order of seriority, (5) Where the officers are on scale, the dates of increments and the rules under which increments are granted, (6) Conditions of promotion from Class to

Class,

(7) Pension or gratuity on retirement and

basis on which calculated.

The information as to character and capacity should

be full in the case or the Postmaster and Chief Clerk;

and, in the case of the Postmaster, it is especially

desirable to know how far he is qualified to act as

Surveyor
