Harcourt will perhaps be so good as to obtain further information. I am to request that the financial information both as to revenue and expenditure may, if this can conveniently be done, be given for the years 1908, 1909 and 1910; and it would also be advantageous if separate figures could be given for each Agency. I am to mention that in April last the Postmaster General requested the Post Office of Hong Kong to separate in the accounts furnished to this Office as from the 1st of Jamary last, the transactionsat the Agencies from those at Hong Kong and to indicate as far as possible the receipts and liabilities of the Imperial Post Office in respect of the Agencies.

With regard to "Staff" I am to enquire, in the matter of pensionable officers, what are the views of the Secretary of State for the Colonies as to apportionment of the pensions, when they become payable, of Officers who will have served for a part of their career under the Colony and for a part under the Imperial Administration.

There are certain minor matters with regard to which questions have been raised in recent correspondence received from the Colonial Office.

4. Agency payment for use of Peninsular and Oriental Company's Steamers (Colonial Office letter of 7 Jamary 1911 No. 38552/1910, and enclosure in letter of 5 August 1911

You

No. 24775/1911). The sum of £600 per annum hitherto paid

in this respect by the Colony of Hong Kong in pursuance of the Balfour Award of 1904 should from the 1st of January last cease

to be charged on the revenue of the Colony and should be omitted from the Accounts of Agency receipts and

expenditure
