I spoke to you on the telephone a couple of
days ago about an appointment which has been referred to
Sir John Struthers by Sir Frederick Lugard on behalf of
the new University of Hong Kong, viz. that of Principal
of the University. You kindly undertook that a cable,
which Sir John thinks it desirable to send in reply to
the Governor's letter, should be despatched by the
Colonial Office, so as to take advantage of your Code .The
cost of the cable may, if necessary, be charged to the
Board of Education, Office of Special Enquiries and Reports, who are to deal with the appointment and who
Sir will recover expenses from the University Court. John Struthers will be much obliged if the cable can be
despatched today. It is as follows:-
