I un commanded by the Army Council to acknowledge the receipt of your letter K. of today's date, transmitting a request from the Lords foumissioners of the Admiralty that troops shall be held in readiness at Hone Yone for irmediate despatch to hunghal.
In reply I am to say that the Mouncil have instructed the oneral Officer furrunding the Troops South China to hold all available troops in readiness for dospatch if so directed by the Covertor of lung Kong.
I am to explain that the detail of troops

Royal Garrison Artillery-80 (with 4 pountain guns and

I am bo add that the Coimcil concur in the proposal that the fomodore at Hong Kong shall be directed tomake the necessary arrangements as to transport.
