The .P.W. MT. Davis reported to me as follows on the af
ternoon of the 10th instant.

"Sappers Hiscock and Bolton, 25th Company R. E. were sent
out to Kount Davis on the 5th instant, in relief of other
Sappers withdrawn. Being new to the place instead of turning
up the military road to Mount Davis, they went along the Jubilee
Road, a mile or so beyond the above, and lost their way.
They met a European and asked him to direct them. He
asked them into his house which was close by, and gave them
a drink. He then opened a large scale map of the country in
the vicinity and showed them on it the military road up to
Mount Davis.

emplacement marked. He also showed them a map of Devil's
Mount Battery, very large scale (Devil's Peak presumably).
He asked them whether they had not recently arrived, and

They reported as above to M.F.W. on arrival.
