with reference to your letter10095/21, dated
27th May, 1911, regarding the llong song military
contribution, I am commanded by the Army Council to
acquaint you for the information of the Lords Commissioners
of His Majesty's Treasury that they have no objection to
the application of the principle of assessment of net
receipts to the revenue derived from the newly opened
British section of the Canton-Lowloon Railway.
The percentage at which the contribution is
calculated having been fixed at a time when there were
no government railways, no question arises of ite
revision,
With reference to the third paragraph of the
Colonial Office letter, the Army Council understand that
the capital for the construction of the British section
of the Canten-Kowloon Railway has been provided by means
of a loan and not from ordinary revenues.
I am to add that the Army Council would be
clad to have an opportunity of considering the proposed
