The Lords Commissioners of His Ijesty's Treasury

have had under consideration Ir. Fiddes' letter of the 25th ultimo (5447/1911) further regarding the amount of the grant to be contributed to the revenues of Hong Kong in respect of the loss due to the policy of His Majesty's overnment in restricting the sale of opium.

In reply I am to request you to inform ir. Secretary Harcourt that My Lords will be ready to reconsider the amount of the grant in respect of the two years 1911-12 and 1912-13 if it should hereafter appear that the grant does not cover one half of the direct lose incurred by the Colony.
