I am directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 22nd April (No. 8,523),
forwarding, with other enclosures, a draft of the proposed
Anglo-Chinese Custome Agreement, as finally revised, and in
reply I am to state, for Mr. Secretary Harcourt's inform-
ation, that they do not desire to offer any observations on
the draft Agreement.
