Proposed adoption of measures to restrict the supply of cocaine to India from the countries from which it is exported.

I am directed by the Secretary of State jor

India in Counil to enclose, for the information of

the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, a copy of

26 Excise, a letter from the Government of India calling d 11th May, 1 spara

attention to the spread of the cocaina habit in

Burma and other purts of India, and expressing the

viaw that their efforts towards the suppression of

the habit will be fruitless unless something is done

to restrict the export of the drug and its congeners

from the chief manufacturing countries. The

information now supplied by the Government of India

affords further evidence of the importance of bringing

the morphia and cocaine question before the proposed

Optum Conferance.
