20th November, 1911.

Referring to my letter of the 13th instant request-

ing that Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen should be allowed to visit Hong-

Kong, I have to-day been requested by Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen to

inform you that he is leaving by the P. and 0. steamship

"Malwa "from Marseilles on the 24th instant, and would be

greatly obliged if he could be informed whether his

permission to visit Hongkong is approved.

He further would be most grateful if instructions may

be sent to Penang and Singapore, Straite Settlements,

permitting him to land at these places. He is aware that

no act of banishment has been made preventing him from

visiting Penang and Singapore, but he fears it is possible

notwithstanding, that some officials might possibly

give him trouble, and he would not like any unpleasant

objections raised on his arrival.

The Right Honourable,

I have &c.,

(Signed)

A. T. Dawson.

Sir Edward Grey, Bart., M.P.,
