I have the honour to inform you that in accord-
ance with the request contained in your note of the
27th ultimo Hia Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Lisbon
has been instructed to support the representations
which are to be made to the Portuguese Government by
the Chinese Minister respecting the facilities for
gambling at Nacao.
I would point out that the Portuguese Cover-
mont, on their part, conulder that they have ground
for complaint in regard to the attitude of the
Chinese Government in regard to the dredging open-
tions undertaken by the Portuguese with a view to
preventing the channel which leads to the harbour
from silting up.
In those circumstances I venture to think that
the two Governments should find little difficulty
oned our Low Yuk-Lin.
