Sir,
India Office to Foreign Office.~(Received June 7.)
India Office, June 6, 1911.
IN reply to your letter dated the 24th May, 1911, on the subject of the seizure of thirteen chests of Indian opium in the Wing Ting district of the province of Fukien, I am directed by the Secretary of State for India in Council to say that his Lordship concurs in Sir Edward Grey's proposal to approve the action taken by Sir J. Jordan in addressing a protest to the Chinese Government.
I am also to invite attention to my letter of to-day's date on the subject of the opium regulations of the Fukien province, under which the seizure of the thirteen chests was apparently made by the anti-opium society of the province.
I am, &c.
R. RITCHIE,
