its desire to conciliate the existing difficulties,
and not to find itself obliged to continue the prosecution
of its claim through diplomatic channel, I take the liber-
ty of applying to you in the name of fair dealing and the
uprightness with which you always proceed, to obtain from
the President of the republic, the resolution which may ap-
pear to him proper, and which I have so often bagged for in
connection with the above claim.
