I AM directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 26th April, forwarding copies of notes from the Belgiau Minister and the French chargé d'affaires relative to the proposed conference at The Hague with regard to pium, &c.

In the circumstances mentioned in those documents, the Board are disposed to hink that it would be preferable that the meeting of the conference should be postponed antil next year, and I am to suggest, for Sir E. Grey's consideration, that a reply might be returned to Baron Gericke in this sense.
