Lay
I have the honour to acknowledge your Excellency's
letter No.6085/10 of the 13th instant.
I do not propose to deal with the questions raised
by the members of the Hongkong bar, beyond saying that
they in the main depend on whether the Assistant Judge
of this Court rightly decided that this Court can wind
up a British company carrying on business in Chine, in
the same way and to the same extent as English Courts can
wind up unregistered or foreign companies in England.
With his Honour's decision I have expressed myself so
far in accord as to express readiness to make a similar
order in a case which has come before me, the question
of the jurisdiction to do so not having, so far been
Sir Frederick Lugard, K.C.M.O.
etc., etc., etc.

raised.
