DRAFT OF PROPOSED AGREEMENT.

An Agreement made this day of
The Yuchuanpu of the one part, and The Eastern Extension
Australasia and China Telegraph Company, Limited, and
The Great Northern Telegraph Company, Limited, of Den-
mark (hereinafter called "the Companies") of the other
part.
Whereas the Yuchuanpu is desirous of contracting
a loan for the purpose of reorganising, improving und
developing its Telegraph and Telephone services.
And Whereas the Companies are willing to provide
a loan for the purpose stated.
It is therefore mutally agreed between the parties
hereto, as follows:-
Article 1.
The Companies agree to provide the Yuchuanpu with
a Gold Loan of the sum of £500,000 (five hundred thousand
pounds sterling) on the conditions hereinafter named.
