Sir: -
I have the honour to transmit herewith copies of
correspondence with the Governor of Hongkong, together
with the translation of the Imperial Edict referred to, by
which all officially managed telegraphs throughout the
Provinces have been placed under the control of the Board
of Communications.
It will be observed that the line from Canton to
Hongkong is amongst those which have been thus transferred
to the Board.
