Sir J. Jordan to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received December 13,)

MACAO.

Peking, December 13, 1910.

I am informed by His Majesty's consul-general at Canton that a strong agitation for the recovery of Macao has been started by the local press since the revolution in Portugal. Advantage was taken of the opportunity offered by the recent military outbreak to sond four Chinese gun-boats to Macao, and they are anchored at the entrance to the harbour, At present there appears to be no cause to fear trouble.
