Gentlemen

We beg to acknowledge the receipt of your

letter E/321/29 of 16th May and note that the

Colonial Government is not prepared to enter into any

agreement such as that suggested for remunerating our

services in connection with the Kowloon Canton

Railway British Section subsequent to the opening of

the line for traffic.

In reply to your enquiry as to whether we

would be willing to advise you should occasion arise

on any work in connection with the railway we beg to

say that we shall be happy to give you the benefit

of our advice on any matters referred to us charging

you therefor at our ordinary rates of remuneration

for consultative work.

We are &C

(sd) J. Wolfe Barry
