Kowloon Canton Railway British Section.

Gentlemen,

Referring to our recent interviews with regard to

the proposal that we should continue our connection with

the Kowloon-Canton Railway British Section as Consulting

Engineers, we beg to say.. that we should have much pleasure

in accepting the position and we submit the following

suggestions as a tentative arrangement for our remunera-

tion.-

(a) A retaining fee of £200 per annum (to be paid in

advance) which fee would cover our personal services

rendered in interviews with yourselves and the preparation

of reports on such matters as you may refer to us. The

fee would also cover incidental clerical assistance unless

any investigations, plans or estimates are required in

which case we should be repaid our out of pockets for

assistants' time, office and incidental expenses.

(b) A commission of one per cent on the cost of any indents

on which we may be called upon to advise you or to prepare

designs and specifications for and, in addition to the

commission, repayment of our out of pockets for

assistants' time, office and incidental expenses.

(c) A fee of £5. 5. 0 per man for assistance and advice

in the selection of candidates for posts on the permanent

staff of the Railway the fee to include all our expenses

in connection with such advice etc. In the case of men
