A.L.S. 54, Pincott reported at 10 p.m. 5th. instant that at 8
p.m. while in charge of a picquet a piece of tile was thrown at the picquet. Either from 113, 115 or 117, Des Voeux Road Central. No one struck.
P.M.R. 8th. December:
P.C. 88, Wilson at 6.45 p.m. 7th. instant arrested a man in
Reclamation Street for hawking pamphlets without a licence. He arrested another man in the act of throwing a stone. Crowd rushed him and caused him to let the hawker go. The crowd hustled him, threw stones and shouted "strike him"
and in a further struggle the 2nd. man also escaped. He
with 0.0.373 gave chase but failed to re-arrest the man. On returning to Reclamation Street the crowd recommenced throwing stones and shouting, he arrested a man who appear- -ed to have just thrown a stone and who was shouting "strike him", and took him to the Station. This man was charged and
convicted.
Report from General Officer Commanding:
On the night of 7th. instant, stones were thrown from Kennedy
Road at the sentry in the Magazine Enclosure below. Previous
to the stone throwing several men banged the gate of the
Magazine..
On 24th. November Mr. Kotewall's brother and two friends were
walking at Shektongshui had their queues seized and pulled
by roughs they hurried to a restaurant from the verandah of
which they saw several Chinese gentlemen similarly treated,
and ricksha coolies were pulled down and deprived of their
