C O 1712

$333

Hon. Colonial Secretary,

PEG 17 JAN 123

The points which occur to us are as follows:-

1. There is no such connection between the two offices as to

require unity of control.

2. Improbability owing to the amount of work in both offices of either being able to render much assistance to the other in cases

of extra pressure.

3.

That it is impossible unless the officers in both Depart- -ments are continually in close touch with each other and the work of the two Departments to take up matters in case of urgency or pressure

in a way that would expedite matters.

4. Delay which would be caused by Land Office matters having to go through a titular head. This is assuming that it was the intention to appoint the Crown Solicitor nominally Land Officer.

5.

The offices being placed far apart in the New Law Courts.

6. That in the cases of absence on leave for the reas ons

stated above the amalgamation would not afford any additional

facilities.

4th. December, 1911.

(Sd.) J. H. Kemp,

Crown Solicitor.

(Sd.) . H. Wakeman,

Land Officer.
