H.M.k,Consulate depenal.

Canton, 70 Sove sbor, 1911,

sir.

in order to supple cont the telegreas I have despatched during the present crisis and to constitute material for pur- poses of record i have the honour to tranmit herewith a diary

of ovente drawn up by r Acting Vice-ioneul Combe.

No mention is therein made of the Cant n-Cowloon Hallway

(chinese coction) which has formed subject of separate comA- nication between the uovernor of longkong and myself.

I regret to have to state that, owing to the turbulent nature of the populace in the districts through which the line passes, there is at the moment faint prospect of its being rg- opened, much as tho new Administration would like to see it run- ning, and willing me they are to adopt auch methods as are at

their disposal to protect it.
